Individual Therapy

Through open, confidential discussions, you will gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, learning coping strategies to manage stress, improve relationships, and enhance overall well-being. Sessions are offered in-person, virtually, as well as over the phone.

Individual therapy sessions delivered in-person. Located in the heart of Findlay Creek in Ottawa South, Pearson Psychotherapy Clinic offers a warm and safe space for clients to connect with their therapist in-person to discuss their mental health needs. In-person sessions allow for clients to express their concerns in a private office and permits for a more personal relationship with their therapist.

Virtual 

Individual Therapy 

Access one-on-one therapy sessions virtually from anywhere in Ottawa or Ontario. Virtual sessions are offered to individuals all across the province of Ontario to provide greater access to psychotherapy services. The benefits of virtual appointments include attending appointments from your own home or workplace and maintaining a personal connection with your therapist through a screen. Clients are permitted to choose their preferred method of receiving therapy and there is no difference in the quality of service provided.

Over The Phone 

Individual Therapy

Receive individual therapy sessions over the phone from anywhere in Ottawa or Ontario. Telephone sessions are also available to individuals across Ontario so you can access your therapy session at a location that’s convenient for you. Over the phone sessions also offer more access to therapy services to those living in remote areas where there are less services available. Clients are permitted to choose their preferred method of receiving therapy and there is no difference in the quality of service provided.

Areas of Expertise 

. Anxiety can affect people psychologically, physically, and behaviourally. Common symptoms can include feeling nervous, panicked or fearful. One might experience tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, or tingling. Individuals can become fixated on one or several thoughts or overthink thoughts repeatedly.

. Relationship issues can range from difficulties in romantic relationships, friendships, peer relationships, family relationships, and professional relationships. Common experiences can include issues with communication, abandonment, betrayal, infidelity, conflict, intimacy, trust, and navigating relationships that promote health and safety.

Relationship Issues

. Individuals suffering from negative thoughts about themselves, feeling unworthy or unloveable, or focusing on their flaws over their strengths may battle with self-esteem. Those who experience low self-esteem may struggle to prioritize themselves, set boundaries, and may frequently compare themselves to others.

Self-Esteem Issues

. Depression can severely impact one’s emotional and physical well-being including but not limited to feeling hopeless, empty, sad, and unmotivated. Individuals may lose interest in activities and relationships they once loved and feel disconnected from others. Depression can decrease one’s energy levels and make it difficult to do daily tasks and practice self-care.

. Individuals experiencing hardships related to adapting into a new role or phase of life. Life transitions can include divorce or breakups, career changes, moving residence, aging, becoming a parent, transitioning to adulthood, retirement, marriage, disease, grief, and much more.

. Issues with anger management may be expressed through angry outbursts, being easily overwhelmed, mood swings, and feeling like one is not in control of their emotions. Anger management issues can develop into relationship issues, work problems, substance abuse, self-harm and more.

. Traumatic experiences vary from person to person and can leave a significant impact on one’s sense of self, one’s relationships with others, and the ways in which one views the world. Common symptoms include having intrusive thoughts or images, experiencing intense distress related to the trauma, having flashbacks or nightmares, and enduring strong physical reactions with situations associated with the trauma.
